"Bodyguard" was released in early 1990 as the second American single from the Bee Gees 'One' album. It was a cassette-only single release.
There was controversy with this 'original' music video. MTV and VH-1 thought the video was too racy (which by most standards, it really was not), so it made programmers shy away from adding it to their rotations. Subsequently this music video was re-edited and toned down from the original 5 minute video to just 4 minutes.
The controversy of this video hurt airplay of the single, though it charted well in the Adult Contemporary market reaching number 9 on Billboard and number 5 on Radio & Records.
Lead vocals are by Robin and Barry Gibb.
